One of the greatest gifts I ever received as a pastor was when our elder board said, “We’d like you to have a sabbatical.” I have since enjoyed a sabbatical every five years, and these have been life-giving both to me and to our church. When pastors get a sabbatical, they receive a God-inspired gift that benefits both pastor and church for long-term health and effectiveness.

Through a partnership with Guidestone and PCN, pastors may open a 403(b)(9). It is a defined contribution plan specifically designed for the unique needs of evangelical churches or church organizations. While similar to other 403(b) and 401(k) plans, 403(b)(9) plans are not subject to certain ERISA requirements, such as annual 5500 reporting. In addition, 403(b)(9) plans offer retired ministers the ability to have retirement distributions designated as housing allowance.  Retirement and health insurance solutions for every season of ministry.

ESTATE PLANNING

The Baptist Foundation will create a Living Trust for Lead Pastors for free if you include in your trust giving 10% to a Christian organization. They will also come to your church and give a 45-minute workshop on the value and importance of a Living Trust. Following the presentation, attendees may sign up for a meeting to create their own Living Trust for a very discounted price.
